[ She has questions. Frankly, she's had questions for a very long time, but she hasn't really had the time to ask them. Now, however, no longer starving or exhausted, Maya's getting to the bottom of this.
... Once she finds Gandharva, since she has no idea where he actually lives. For the purpose of this thread, though, she's spotting him off in the distance and cupping her hands around her mouth. ]
in any case, gandharva's back in his child form. when he hears someone calling out to him, he looks over towards the source, surprise flickering across his face.]
[You know what's unfortunate? When your knee-jerk reaction is to automatically politely greet someone when you see them, and when that's the trigger for your memories to be shared.
So.
Minato opens his mouth.]
Hello, R--
[And catches himself, immediately clasping a hand over his mouth. SAFE???]
gandharva freezes, hoping in the moment (but not praying—what use is prayer when you're a sura, enemy of the gods?) that if anything happens, it will not be his own memory.
... which, of course, means it is.
the memory starts off with a blonde woman fighting—against beings who, though possessing human shape, are still clearly inhuman. a cloaked individual with a tail. a red woman with arms too long. a blue-haired, younger-looking girl, standing off to the side.
although the blonde woman holds her own well, she's outmatched. gandharva stands where he is, paralyzed with anxiety and indecision. the red woman knocks the blonde to the ground, and—
[It's... brutal. The entire memory is brutal, from Gandharva's feelings to that actual situation to that flashback within the memory--
Minato's breath hitches, eyes wide, and then the memory ends as suddenly as it began, his shoulders hunching slowly in grief for both the people in Gandharva's memory, and Gandharva himself.
... Slowly, he drags a breath in. (And naturally, he noted that difference in name, but that's not important right now to focus on.)]
[where does gandharva live.... let's handwave that Okuni Knows based on the fact that she's Gandharva's best gremlin friend.]
Ruru! Ruru! [Okuni persistently yelling outside Gandharva's house for him instead of knocking on the door like a normal person,] It's that time of the month again!
[So, okay, bad decisions have probably been made, and in his defense they were accidental bad decisions for once-- but nothing seems to be wrong so far? That's all he can really ask for. Until things start going to shit, he's decided to try not to focus on it.
And so he's carrying on with things as usual, wrapped in a coat and scarf as he makes his way home (is it supposed to still feel this cold? Hm,) outwardly pretty unconcerned with the current state of things while he quietly tries to find literally anything else to focus on.
A familiar-ish face will do just fine for that, even if it's definitely the guy who he is pretty sure he made a terrible impression on.]
Oh-- hey! Hey, it's been a while, hasn't it?
[possibly long enough to have forgotten about it? god, he can hope.]
I don't guess you're up to anything you might need a hand with? Kind of ran out of things that needed doing myself, so...
...Something to do, mostly. You can only clean the same things so many times, you know?
[and he really doesn't want to hit the point where his roommates kick him out to do something else themselves, so here he is.]
So- I figured I would keep an eye out and see if anyone could use a hand. Or a partner to finish off one of those quests, or something. Already worked on a couple, but more never hurts, right?
[he hums to himself, thinking. sure, he's heard it's maybe a bad idea to lose color, but he's seen at least one person without some of it and he'd seemed fine? just... completely unconcerned with anything.
a reasonable person would not suggest this to a stranger, but then a reasonable person also would not think 'you know, that actually doesn't sound so bad right now'. it might be nice, not feeling low-key worried about fifty different things.
so he brightens, and like it's a totally normal request:]
You could try taking my color? I'd like to see what happens.

It's chain mail. You're supposed to try to see how many people it can be forwarded to. Think of it as like a community building exercise.

then, gandharva finally acts.
"stop!"
they do, and then everything goes to hell from there, oops.
...
when it's over, gandharva merely stands there, as he did in the memory. how is he supposed to react to that?]
hey what the fuck

... Ruva-san...
you volunteered!!
Why are you still calling me that? You know that's not my name.
I WASN'T PREPARED
The name you've given me to use is Ruva-san. Until you tell me any other names to call you by, that's the name I'm going to use.

[gandharva's more of a casual quest-doer, since it doesn't make much of a difference to him, really. the rewards are sometimes nice, he supposes.]
